Can we create new vows?

Here’s a letter we received recently from Rachel Blackwell who has been using the Nun Karma Repatterning and asks:

Dear Gail and the ‘Nun Karma’ team,

I am a Resonance Repatterning Practitioner and I wanted to thank you for creating this repatterning.  These archetypes are so powerfully held within many of us drawn to healing and I have used this repatterning several times recently.

I have some feedback that has arisen out of a repatterning I did with a client recently, who I have worked with for a number of years.

Just before the end of the repatterning, which flowed really well, she shared that she felt uncomfortable about the whole idea of new vows, that vows are a sacred process that historically you would have spent time preparing for and that she wanted to know what she had signed up for.  Of course I explained that really they were new positive beliefs and goals in alignment with her energy now and that they were empowering and not limiting.  However, because the meaning of ‘vows’ has such a strong resonance to people (which is why the repatterning is so good) the terminology in that piece and echo of ritual was not helpful, and tends to reinforce an outmoded idea.  We resolved the situation by doing a positive statement around releasing what no longer served her and that she was not bound by any of the statements.

I do appreciate and understand the intention behind the sections on new vows but feel that the language used doesn’t support full empowerment.

I hope that this feedback is useful and look forward to hearing from you.

With warm wishes and blessings, Rachel Blackwell

Does anyone have any thoughts on this question?

Changing Your Financial Boundaries

Another aspect of poverty consciousness and nun karma may play out in the financial boundaries we maintain with our family or group.  I remember my grandmother explaining how in her era (circa 1910) in rural Hungary, it was not acceptable for any individual to have their own money.  Instead money was held by the patriarch of the group who decided how it was to be spent and for what.  This is similar to convents in the past where individuals contributed their earnings to the group and made requests for their limited purchases. In one way this is a very earth chakra tribal level of consciousness where the family dictates how the individuals will live.  I surmise that in a convent setting group finances may be more of a Crown chakra pattern of unity and a group mind.

However, in either case whether we have inherited these patterns from our family system (ancestors) or acquired them in a past life nun karma vows, we may be struggling financially by living these unconscious vows or loyalties.  It can be very frustrating as we make goals and intentions for our finances only to fall short of our desires.  In my Money Happens! Group proxy series, participants frequently show up trying to clear this very issue realizing that they almost consciously sabotage financial success.   Sometimes we feel driven to give it away, share it with our parents or just give the money to other family members.  You know you are suffering from a group money pattern if you find yourself asking other family members for permission to spend your own money.  The discomfort we feel when we experience the financial outcome of very little money is over-ridden with an unconscious sense of inner peace that we are still accepted by our family or group, that we are a part of the group.

If you are experiencing chronic money issues, especially if you have been working hard at job, received promotions, or increases in business, consider how this pattern may be affecting you.  Set an intention for being okay with meeting your own financial goals first before helping others with your money – not as easy as this sounds I am sure.  Try doing the Nun Karma repatterning with this new awareness in mind to clear the issue for yourself.  Then notice what changes occur for you – new insights, new actions or new levels of cooperation from others to support you.

With love and light,
Carolyn

STOP HIDING!

Lately I’ve become aware of just how much most of us (myself included) continue to hide behind false modesty, being good and a reluctance to fully present our gifts. It’s as though we’re still in veil and wimple. This was pointed out to me by a marketing friend who was evaluating websites I’d written. “They’re fine”, she said, “but you have to stop hiding!”

Aha! She had spotted another aspect of Nun Karma at work! So many of our websites start out with generic language that describes a service. Her website goes boldly to the point: “My name is Kristin Zhivago. I’ve been helping CEOs and entrepreneurs market and sell more effectively for years.”

So I took her advice and have started to root out language that keeps us hidden. One client, Arcady Mediation, no longer starts with a discussion of intractable arguments. Instead it presents the owner right from the beginning as: “I’m a Boston area mediator and conflict resolution coach. I help companies like yours get through the sticky wickets of business conflicts—so you reach new solutions that move you and your company forward.”

Another client now claims her power up front by saying: “I’m an Episcopal priest and a performance consultant. I help executives make better business decisions faster

And my website now begins: “My name is Gail Glanville, and I am a brand makeover coach. I help caring entrepreneurs refresh their identities and marketing strategies when they’ve grown too stale or small.”

I’ve now realized how many layers there are to good girl Nun Karma and how we continue to hide even though we know better, so I hope this insight helps!

Have you fully set aside your veil and wimple? I’d love to know.

Invisible financial boundaries that confuse, invoke guilt, or sabotage financial success

Carolyn Winter

In a recent Money Happens online repatterning session that I hosted,  several compensation patterns emerged that reminded me of the usefulness the Nun Karma Repatterning.  The patterns involve the inner conflict we confront when our finances grow beyond the average held by members of our group.

The groups we belong to have a consciousness (or group mind) that sets the rules for belonging to the group. These rules are often unspoken but nevertheless they bind the groups  members together. Groups may include family, work, your interest groups, school ties etc.  The rules can often put us in in conflict with our goals.

One of the compensations involves the financial boundaries of our group such as family.  If we suddenly come into a lot of money, or obtain a promotion and significant raise, it may also come with a feeling of discomfort if our new income exceeds that of our group.  The unspoken rule may be that it is wrong to have more money than other members of the group or if we do, we must share it.  A few unconscious patterns may emerge that will leave us feeling confused as a result. For example:
– we  sabotage a promotion and get fired
– give our new financial abundance away to family or friends before we have taken care of our own bills, financial goals or desires
– make bad financial decisions that also cause us to lose our new financial health – for example buying a new car or house that puts us in severe debt.

The compensation involved here is that it is wrong to have more money than our group and if we do, will no longer be a valued member unless we equalize our money and give it away.   Ultimately we want to be loved and feel like we belong to our group and that need is so strong it wipes out our committment to our own financial goals and desires.

Of course to belong to a religious group in a past life such as nuns or monks meant to relinquish all of our worldly possessions and monetary status. This was a way of serving God in a contemplative life.  If we are carrying this pattern as well, it may be very difficult indeed to handle the guilt we feel when our finances exceed the boundaries of our group.  We’ve now left the convent for the mansion!  Without financial struggle our relationship with God may feel strained and money will begin to feel tarnished or dirty.

If this is happening for you in some way, I suggest using the Nun Karma repatterning for specific financial situations. There is a whole section of patterns dealing with the consequences of the vows of poverty. Combine this with the financial boundaries of your group and you may uncover some of the deeper patterns of any current financial non coherence.

Have you experienced a situation involving an invisible boundary for how much money you can have?  How did you deal with it?

Clearing Past Life Relationships with Nun Karma

My thanks to “Jane Ashton” our guest using her alias to protect the innocent – stood in last Feb 23rd as the proxy for the group repatterning using the Nun Karma protocol. Weirdly enough, sound quality issues arose during  the call as soon as we started to talk about the past life issues involved.  They went away with the healing modality at the end.   The purpose of our session was to address relationship issues impacted by past life vows.   Here is the audio recording for those of you who remain curious.   You may repattern yourself by listening to this recording and filling in the questions with your own answers.   Let us know how it works for you in the comment box below.
