Nun Karma Vows in a High‑Tech World
Have you noticed how quickly AI has slipped into your spiritual and creative life? It helps you write, plan, even pray, and yet a small voice inside wonders, “Am I really allowed to do this?”
If you’ve ever felt oddly guilty using AI, or nervous about changing what it suggests, this post is for you. From a Nun Karma perspective, that hesitation may not just be “tech anxiety” at all. It may be an old vow of obedience waking up and trying to keep you safe the only way it knows how.
Artificial intelligence is suddenly everywhere in 2026. It’s helping people write, brainstorm, plan sermons, and even offering late‑night spiritual chats through religious apps and chatbots.
In the middle of all this, I keep hearing a quiet question from sensitive, spiritually aware people:
- “Am I allowed to use AI?”
- And once they start using it:
- “Am I allowed to change what it says?”
- That question is where Nun Karma slips into the chat.
The AI writers who made me smile

At a recent AI writers summit, professional writers from many fields shared their experiences. Some avoided AI for as long as possible, worried it would outshine them. Others went all in and let AI do most of the work, barely editing what came back. A few found a sweet spot of true collaboration: using AI as a creative partner while staying firmly in charge of the final voice.
What struck me most wasn’t the tools themselves, but the emotional tone underneath. Again and again, people described a slightly guilty, hesitant feeling:
- “It feels like cheating.”
- “Is it wrong to override the AI suggestion?”
- “It probably knows better than me.”
To my Life Repatterning ears, that sounded exactly like the past‑life vow of obedience waking up and looking for a new authority.

When the algorithm becomes your abbess
In Nun Karma, we explore how vows of obedience from monastic lifetimes linger in your energy field. These vows were often made in the presence of the Sacred and intended to last “forever.” No wonder they still feel so absolute.
The old vow might have sounded like: “I surrender my will to a higher authority. I will not question. I will obey.” In that lifetime, it may have kept you safe, loved, and clear about your place in the world.
In this lifetime, the same pattern can quietly attach itself to:
- A boss or partner
- A spiritual teacher or influencer
- A social media feed full of “people who know better”
- And now, AI systems and apps
On the surface, it looks like ordinary self‑doubt. Underneath, there’s a deep imprint saying, “Someone else knows the rules. I must not disobey.”
A small practice for sacred discernment
If you notice yourself deferring to AI, experts, or the scroll of social media, try this Point‑of‑Choice exercise:
- Pause and name it:
“I’m at a point of choice about whether to obey this or listen within.” - Sense the vow:
Imagine a devoted nun or monk within you who once promised to obey at all costs. Notice their sincerity. - Offer an update:
Inwardly say, “Thank you for keeping us safe then. For this life, I choose sacred discernment. I am allowed to question, edit, and choose what truly fits my soul.” - Take one tiny new action:
Change a phrase, choose a different title, ignore a trend, or post something more authentic. Let your body feel what it’s like to act from inner authority.
“AI is not meant to be your abbot; it’s a tool that can serve your soul’s expression when you stay in your own center“

Confession time: AI and I co‑wrote this once I repatterned myself around the vow of obedience. I asked the questions, brought the Nun Karma stories, and did the final editing. No vows of blind obedience were invoked.
